RTG casinos USA

By Kati Saari. Updated:

Bojoko helps you find alternatives to RTG casinos in the USA. RTG, also known as RealTime Gaming, is one of the oldest online casino games suppliers still in business. Hugely popular amongst US players, RTG's games are still sought on casinos even if the age has already smoothed out their edges. Next to slots, RTG provides table games, video poker, live dealer games, and progressive jackpots.

At the moment, US-licensed RTG casinos are practically non-existent as RTG does not own an operating license in the US. On Bojoko, we only provide you with trustworthy, legal, and properly licensed online casinos.

List of alternatives to RTG casinos

Instead of RTG casino list, we've gathered online casinos that are licensed in the USA. They might not carry games from RTG, but to be honest, you don't miss much. Try slots from the leading slot suppliers, like NetEnt, Playtech, and Microgaming, which are around the same age as RTG but have much more modern game libraries.

If you played at online casinos in the late 90s or early 2000s, you were nearly bound to see RTG's games, such as Caesar's Empire, Naughty or Nice?, and Lucha Libre. RTG was a true American online casino game supplier, too, as the company was founded in Atlanta. Alas, even though there still is a number of RTG casinos, it's questionable should you be playing on them.

On Bojoko, we only offer you regulated online casinos that have acquired a valid US license.

Regulated online casinos operating in the US can only carry games that are from US-licensed suppliers. Because RTG has not been licensed by any of the US states, the US casinos can't have RTG's games in their selections.

We also have a team of experts who test and review casinos by using real money deposits to see how everything works from registration to withdrawing winnings.

About RTG in the US

RTG was founded in 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia. When the UIGEA (as in the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) passed in 2006, the company was first moved to Costa Rica, after which it was sold to Hasting's International Group located in Curacao. Because the UIGEA obstructed RTG from serving US clients legally, they were forced to pull their operations from US soil.

Unfortunately, RTG made some poor choices and so they ended up serving several scam casinos and operators. Of these, one of the best known is the Crystal Palace group, since rebranded and these days known as BTK Ltd. The company in question ran several online casinos which quickly gained a notorious reputation for not paying the winnings and having abusive bonus terms.

RTG themselves weren't a part of the scams, but their brand was tightly connected with the scammers and so, irreversibly damaged. Yet, it doesn't help their case either that they still continue offering their services on unregulated, gray markets.

Today, you can easily find RTG slots on unregulated offshore casinos targeted at US players. We on Bojoko, however, do not recommend playing at sites that aren't properly regulated. Here, we only offer you casino sites that are legitimate, US-licensed casinos with clean bill of health.

New RTG casinos

The big question still lies ahead; will there be new US-licensed RTG casinos available in the future? It all depends on RTG and their willingness of applying for the license. But, the most probable reason we didn't see new RTG casinos in 2020 and will not see them in the near future, is that they don't really have a need for it. As long as they have the necessary licenses to offer their games to casinos that market themselves as "US-friendly", why would they pay more for a US license?

So, the newest RTG casinos emerging will very likely continue to be unregulated offshore casinos. You could claim their RTG casino bonus, but we do recommend at least exploring the casino well before making any deposits.

RTG casino games

RTG is mainly known for its slots, but they also have some progressive jackpot slots. RTG might have been an online casino pioneer in their time, but nowadays most of their game library can't really compete with the modern graphics of rivaling suppliers.

At the moment, RTG's game collection is over 300 titles long and it includes:

RTG slots

Many RTG slots are dated all the way back to the first operating years. This results in a game selection that might have been quite impressive back in the day but now reminds you of the golden years of downloadable casino software. However, some newer RTG slots do have nice visual elements - like Bubble Bubble 2 which was released in 2017.

The games were originally created using Flash and Java technologies before moving on to HTML5, giving players improved quality and game designs.

Popular RTG slots include titles like:

For alternatives to RTG slots, try:

RTG progressive jackpots

RTG has a handful of progressive jackpot slots, of which the Aztec's Millions and Jackpot Piñatas are probably the most known. In addition, RTG has included a "random jackpot" in their Real Series video slots. This random jackpot is a pooled jackpot shared with other random jackpot games and can be won at any bet level.

Aztec's Millions, in particular, came to be known for its jackpot that nobody had ever won. The jackpot grew slowly but steadily for over a decade until it was finally claimed in April of 2021. At the time, the jackpot had climbed up to $4,501,636 and it had also been widely speculated that the game, or at least the jackpot itself, was a scam.

RTG's best RTP slots

At best, RTG's slots can feature as high RTP as 97.5%. At worst, it's only 91%. The interesting part is, RTG offers most, if not all, of its slots to the casinos with adjustable RTP. This means the casinos get to decide whether a certain RTG slot works, for example, with the RTP setting of 91%, 95%, or 97.5%.

This is why it's pretty much impossible to say which of RTG's slots really has the best RTP as the RTP can be different between the casinos.

RTG and responsible gaming

RTG has its games housed on various types of online casinos, of which some are downright blacklisted and, on the other end, some are perfectly reputable. As a game supplier, RTG is bound to follow the rules of its licenses and has very little to say in the terms of responsible gambling.

Because RTG doesn't really avoid gray market casinos, it pretty much falls upon the player to do their research on the RTG casino they want to play at.

Responsible US casinos provide a number of tools for their customers, e.g. deposit/loss limits, reality checks, and even the possibility to self-exclude. We on Bojoko heartily recommend taking advantage of these responsible gambling tools.

Bojoko is a strong advocate of responsible gaming. Read our Responsible gambling page for more information.

At the moment, you can find RTG slots only on unregulated casino sites that are not licensed by any of the US states.

On Bojoko, we offer you a list of US-licensed online casinos that have several great suppliers, such as:

Additionally, you can check out our casino list which features a number of alternatives to RTG casinos.

Unfortunately, we can't guarantee that.

Even if RTG themselves are a legitimate supplier, we can't make any promises for the casinos offering RTG slots. Because RTG currently isn't a US license holder, they can't have their games on online casinos licensed and operating within the United States. Sadly, in the past, many online casinos offering RTG slots were scams and notorious for not paying the players, and this is something that can easily leave a stain on any supplier's name.

For safe and US-licensed places to play on, we got you covered. See our list of online casinos and take advantage of our ready-made filters, or make your own.

The biggest jackpot ever won from an RTG slot was in April 2021 when a player claimed the jackpot of $4.5 million from the progressive slot Aztec's Millions. At the moment, the biggest RTG jackpots can be found in the following games:

  • Shopping Spree
  • Jackpot Piñatas
  • Aztec's Millions
